Ontario Provincial Police say a male youth is facing a criminal charge after alleged threats toward others prompted a response at a local school.
Officers with the Lanark County detachment were called to the school on Monday, March 23, 2026, after receiving a complaint that a young person had sent communications threatening harm.
Police say an investigation led to a charge of uttering threats to cause death or serious bodily harm.
The accused youth was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
OPP did not provide details about the nature of the threats or the specific school involved.
Police routinely urge anyone with information about threats or safety concerns to report them immediately so officers can assess risk and take appropriate action.
