A late-night call about a person climbing a water tower has led to charges in Smiths Falls.
The Smiths Falls Police Service says officers responded to a 9-1-1 call on March 6, 2026, reporting an individual scaling the old water tower. Officers arrived quickly and located the suspect at the scene.
Police say the individual was arrested without incident.
An investigation found the accused had intentionally caused damage to equipment at the site.
As a result, 36-year-old Benjamin Duahmel of Smiths Falls has been charged with two counts of mischief and one provincial offence for trespassing.
The accused was later released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police have not released further details.
