A Tay Valley Township resident is facing impaired driving and stunt driving charges after a traffic stop in Lanark County.
Officers with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police say they observed a vehicle travelling 165 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on County Road 43 in Drummond-North Elmsley Township just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Smiths Falls Police Service for testing.
As a result, 48-year-old Scott Lalonde has been charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and stunt driving.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 11.
His licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
