The Town of Smiths Falls is looking ahead to spring as work is set to resume on the Confederation Park bridge, with warmer weather expected to bring renewed progress.
Mayor Shawn Pankow says recent temperature swings have delayed construction, but conditions are improving. He notes the project depends heavily on concrete work, which requires consistent warmth to set properly.
Pankow told LanarkLeedsToday.ca the town is eager to see activity return soon.
He adds that winter conditions have been the main hurdle, not a lack of readiness.
Despite the delay, optimism remains high.
Once the bridge is open, we expect an official ceremony and perhaps a new name.
