A Smiths Falls resident is facing charges after police say home security footage helped identify a suspect in a package theft investigation.
The Smiths Falls Police Service says the incident dates back to March 6, 2026, when an individual turned themselves in on outstanding charges. The case involved packages reported stolen from a local residence.
Investigators say footage from the homeowner’s security cameras played a key role in identifying the suspect.
As a result, 48-year-old Bryan Mordy of Smiths Falls has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of recognizance.
Police say the accused was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The investigation is now considered complete.
