Housing for seniors remains a growing concern in Smiths Falls, even as new long-term care spaces open in the community.
Mayor Shawn Pankow says the new Broadview long-term care home is a positive step forward.
Pankow says while the modern facility helps meet demand, the shortage in rooms is concerning.
He adds there is early discussion about another possible long-term care development on Queen Street, but warns it depends heavily on provincial funding and remains uncertain.
Pankow says those mobility challenges stress the need for more safe, accessible and affordable housing options for Seniors, both right now and as the population ages.
