After a long, cold and wet start to spring, golfers across Lanark County are finally getting a reason to dust off their clubs.
Courses throughout the region, including Lombard Glen Golf Course in Lombardy, are preparing to welcome players back, even if conditions remain a little soft to start the season.
Club pro Paul Vaillancourt says the course made it through the winter in strong shape, but recent weather has slowed things slightly.
He says early rounds will come with a few limitations as staff monitor conditions closely.
A soft opening is planned, with no carts available at first and daily decisions based on how the course dries out.
Despite that, interest is already high, with many eager golfers booking tee times for opening weekend.
Courses across the region are expected to follow a similar approach, gradually opening as conditions improve.
Golfers are encouraged to call their local clubhouse or check online to confirm opening dates, course conditions and tee time availability.
After a delayed start to the season, the message is clear — golf is back, and players are ready.
