Lanark County is preparing for a busy 2026 construction season, with millions set to be invested in local roads and infrastructure.
Public Works officials say pavement preservation will cover 17.2 kilometres of roads, while another 16.5 kilometres will see rehabilitation work and paved shoulders added.
The county maintains more than 560 kilometres of roads along with 82 bridges and culverts. This year’s capital budget totals $11.8 million, supported in part by federal and provincial infrastructure funding.
Officials say progress continues on a long-term goal to pave shoulders on all county roads, with about 75 per cent completed so far.
Public Works Director Sean Derouin says asphalt pricing remains a key factor, but costs have stabilized after sharp increases in recent years.
Warden Richard Kidd says careful planning helps ensure safe, reliable infrastructure while managing taxpayer dollars responsibly.
