The Smiths Falls Gordon Pipe Band is celebrating a strong start to the season after capturing first place in Grade 5 competition at the Ottawa Branch PPBSO Indoor Contest.
The band also earned first in quartet competition, while several members turned in standout solo performances across piping and drumming divisions. Organizers say the results reflect months of hard work and a growing level of talent within the group.
Among the top finishers, Chris Malcomnson took first in Novice Piobaireachd, Dan Todd won Grade 5 Snare, while Jamie Dunn, Nick Keays and Marcus Langille all earned podium finishes. Jayden Lushman also posted strong results in multiple categories.
Special recognition went to instructor Troy Hamstra for a first-place finish in Grade 1 snare, and Pipe Major Steve Brooke for placing in Grade 2 piping events.
Band officials also credited mentors and volunteers for helping tune the band and support the successful season opener.
