A RIDE program stop in Lanark County has led to impaired driving charges after provincial police say a driver was found over the legal alcohol limit.
The Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere check on Rideau Ferry Road in Drummond-North Elmsley Township just after 10 p.m. Sunday when they stopped a vehicle.
Police say the driver was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment in Perth for further testing. As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Jessie Lascelle of South Elmsley Township faces two charges, including operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 15.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Police continue to remind residents to plan ahead and never drive impaired.
