A traffic stop in Drummond-North Elmsley Township has led to impaired driving charges against a Tay Valley Township resident, provincial police say.
The Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers on patrol on Drummond Concession 8A stopped a vehicle just after 12:15 a.m. late last month. Police say the driver was arrested and taken to the Perth detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Nathan Clowery has been charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 8.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Police continue to remind motorists that impaired driving remains a major safety concern and urge people to make a plan before consuming alcohol.
