The province of Ontario is mourning the loss of fallen Northumberland OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm.
A private funeral service was held Wednesday morning at the Cobourg Community Centre for the 33 year old officer who died in the line of duty April 27 in a motorcycle collision on Highway 401.
Hundreds of officers, first responders, and dignitaries gathered inside, while members of the public lined Highway 401 overpasses and Cobourg streets to pay their respects as the funeral cortege arrived under police escort.
Speaking at his funeral service Premier Doug Ford shared he will never be forgotten.

Ford went on to say Malcolm represented the best of Ontario – Bravery, compassion, and a commitment to leave his community better than he found it.
Looking back on Malcolm’s career, OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique said “Whatever he did, he was all in.”
He went on to highlight Malcolm’s commitment to and care for him members and team mates destinguished him as a leader from day one.
The investigation into the collision that claimed his life remains ongoing.
