Living in rural areas comes with unique challenges during emergencies, especially when power goes out.
That’s the message from Perth Fire Chief Trevor Choffe during Emergency Preparedness Week.
Choffe says people outside town may need to rely on their own supplies longer, including backup power, stored food, and access to clean drinking water.
He adds that planning ahead is key, especially for those new to rural living.
He says knowing local risks and building a plan around them can make all the difference when something goes wrong
