The Village of Westport is looking for reliable, community-minded residents to join its Community Emergency Response Volunteer program.
The volunteer-based program supports municipal staff during emergencies, training exercises and community events. Volunteers may assist with reception centres, evacuation support, public information and logistics during emergency situations.
To apply, individuals must be at least 18 years old, live within 10 kilometres of Westport unless otherwise approved, provide a satisfactory criminal record check, and have access to a phone and email. Volunteers must also be willing to attend training sessions and participate in program activities.
Village officials note the positions are strictly volunteer roles with no guaranteed hours. Volunteers work under municipal direction and are not expected to perform hazardous emergency response duties.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. on May 28. Resumes can be submitted by email to the village’s chief administrative officer, cao@villageofwestport.ca
