The Lanark County Child and Youth Services Collaborative is once again looking to recognize people making a difference in the lives of local children through the Asset Builder Awards.
Coordinator Sharon Halliday said nominations are now open for the awards, which celebrate community members who help children and youth feel supported, encouraged and valued.
Halliday said the awards can recognize almost anyone, from crossing guards and bus drivers to coaches, instructors and volunteers who take the time to encourage young people.
The program expanded into Lanark County last year after running for years in neighbouring Leeds and Grenville.
Halliday said the response during the first local ceremony was emotional and inspiring.
Nominations close May 15, with the awards ceremony planned for June 24 at 3 p.m. at the Lanark County Building. Residents can submit written nominations or short video messages explaining why someone deserves recognition.
Halliday said even small gestures can leave a lasting impact on a child’s future.
For more information or to submit a nomination, residents can contact the Lanark County Child and Youth Services Collaborative or visit the group’s social media pages.
