For three decades, YAK Youth Services has been providing support, mentorship, and opportunities for young people across the Perth and District region. The award-winning, non-profit organization remains focused on promoting youth well-being, empowerment, and positive development.
YAK Youth Services operates both the Perth Youth Centre and the Perth Youth Services Hub at 1881 Rogers Road, offering what the organization describes as a “one-stop shop” for youth supports and services.
Board chair, John Reid gives us an idea of what the future holds for YAK.
YAK’s programs and services are designed to help young people build life skills, explore new opportunities, develop healthy relationships, and become more connected to their community. The organization also provides mentorship, tutoring, training, referrals to other agencies, and support for youth facing challenges or distress, all in a safe environment. Executive director Rachel Roth speaks of what changes she’s helped bring since joining the team.
Among its key goals, YAK Youth Services aims to reduce risky behaviour, strengthen youth involvement in community activities, and increase awareness of local youth issues and needs. The organization says it remains committed to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where youth can succeed and thrive. Roth says continuing effective collaboration with other organizations is key for future developments of YAK.
