Town staff presented some options tou council’s committee for parking on College Street after Canada Post raised concerns about delivery trucks having difficulty accessing its downtown property. The crown corporation first brought the matter to the attention of the Town in late 2025, saying the two on-street parking spaces on the north side of College Street were causing the problem.
Staff determined the issue could be resolved by having Canada Post use the property’s Victoria Street entrance for large truck access after a jersey barrier was removed earlier this year. While Canada Post later installed a gate at that entrance and suggested it would keep the lot open to public parking during evenings and weekends if the on-street spaces were removed
Council’s committee directed staff to enter into an agreement with the post office to permit public parking on their lot of about 15 spaces after 5 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends in exchange for removing the two parking spaces on College.
