The Ontario Provincial Police says a 20-year-old Smiths Falls resident is facing charges after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 7 east of Carleton Place.
Police say officers from the Lanark County detachment responded to the collision just after 2:30 p.m. on May 19 near Cemetery Side Road.
Before the crash, multiple callers reported a vehicle being driven erratically, including speeding and passing other vehicles on the shoulder of the highway. Investigators say the vehicle later rear-ended another vehicle.
Both drivers were taken to hospital by Lanark County paramedics with minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Carson Himmelman, 20, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 17.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact the Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and reference incident number E260684131.
