A Smiths Falls man is facing robbery and assault charges after police say a dispute over the price of chocolate milk escalated inside a local convenience store.
Smiths Falls police said officers were called April 27 after a reported assault at the store. Police said an irate customer, upset over the price of chocolate milk, began throwing items inside the business.
Investigators said the person left the store, but later returned and continued throwing containers of chocolate milk. Police said deliberate damage was also caused inside the store.
Surveillance video helped investigators identify a suspect. Police said the accused surrendered to officers without incident on April 30.
Alexander Evans, 67, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with robbery with intent, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
Police said he was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.
