A group of cyclists is putting Perth in motion this week with a seven-day ride supporting 18 charities.
Charbot Lake’s Mia Craig says Perth 700 grew out of friendships formed through past rides for Pancreatic Cancer Canada. Many riders once took part in Seven Days in May, a 1,100-kilometre ride completed over one week.
This year, riders are doing an independent local version, with some cycling 100 kilometres a day and others taking on 100 miles a day.
Craig says the effort is already making a major impact.
Craig is personally raising money for Pancreatic Cancer Canada after losing her mother to the disease in 2021. Local causes also include The Hospice Hub (see the full list below.)
She says the ride is about more than distance. It is also about connection, support and people coming together for causes that matter.
Residents can cheer the cyclists on as they leave each day. Riders gather around 7:30 a.m. and head out at 8 a.m. They leave from Westport Friday morning, then Last Duel Park in Perth through the weekend.
High fives, hugs and donations are welcome.
