The Smiths Falls By The Rideau Market opens tonight at Lower Reach Park on Old Slys Road under new management and at a new location. The market runs Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. through Oct. 2. Organizers say residents can shop local vendors and enjoy waterfront community activities.
The Port Elmsley Drive-In at 333 Port Elmsley Rd. will screen Masters of the Universe followed by Michael on tonight and tomorrow. Gates and the grill open at 7:30 p.m. with movies beginning at 9:05 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $6 for children ages five to 12.
The Carleton Place Environmental Advisory Committee will host Freecycle Weekend throughout the community encouraging residents to place reusable items at the curb for others to collect free of charge. Organizers say the initiative helps reduce landfill waste while promoting reuse. Remaining items must be removed from curbs by Sunday evening.
Saturday
The Perth BIA Summer Dance Kick-Off takes place tomorrow at the Crystal Palace in Perth. Doors open at 7 p.m. with live music by Kingston-based Motown tribute band Heatwave beginning at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the licensed fundraiser support the Stewart Park Festival and its 35th anniversary celebrations.
Perth Pride Parade takes place tomorrow 6 at 3:30 p.m. The parade begins at The Stewart School and ends at Last Duel Park, where community celebrations continue until 8 p.m. Organizers invite residents and visitors to celebrate inclusion, diversity and community spirit.
Local author Steph Mulley will visit the Carleton Place Public Library tomorrow June 6 at 11 a.m. to read from her debut picture book, It’s Scratchy, It’s Catchy, and I Just Don’t Like It. The family-friendly event includes interactive activities, refreshments and book sales following the presentation. Early arrival is encouraged.
The Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour takes place tomorrow and Saturday, drawing cyclists from across North America through the scenic countryside between Ottawa and Kingston. Hosted by the Ottawa Bicycle Club, the annual event is recognized as one of the region’s premier cycling experiences for recreational and experienced riders alike.
The Antique and Classic Car Club of Canada Rideau Lakes Region will host a flea market, craft sale and car show tomorrow and Sunday at the Lombardy Fairgrounds. Proceeds support Camp Quality programs for children affected by cancer. Gates open at 8 a.m. daily. Admission is $5 for adults.
REAL Action will host a rain barrel and native plant sale tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the REAL Deal Store, 85 William St. West in Smiths Falls. Proceeds support REAL’s Monarch Gardens initiative. Organizers say native plants, compost and rain barrels will be available for purchase.
Carleton Place Childcare Services will host the Mighty Machines community fundraiser tomorrow at 3 Francis St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The family event will feature heavy equipment, unique vehicles, vendors, a barbecue, bake sale and activities for children. Admission is a minimum $2 donation per family.
Smiths Falls Pride will host a flag raising and community celebration at Town Hall beginning at 11 a.m tomorrow. Activities include a balloon arch photo-op, giveaways, face painting, tattoos, free barbecue and cupcakes. Limited transportation to Perth Pride events will also be available.
