Lanark County will look to draft an agreement with Enterprise to manage the county’s fleet of public works vehicles.
The agreement includes access to vehicle purchasing, lifecycle planning, maintenance coordination, fuel management programs and vehicle resale services.
Director of Public Works Sean Derouin said the agreement would be for light duty vehicles only, and would involve a phase-out approach to recycling the existing fleet with newer Enterprise vehicles.
Smiths Falls and Carleton Place have pre-exisiting agreements with Enterprise.
Carelton Place Deputy Mayor Andrew Tennant spoke highly of this agreement.
The County would pay a fixed $450 markup on new vehicles, a monthly management fee equal to 0.15 per cent of a vehicle’s invoice cost and a $495 resale administration fee.
Staff said the program is based on replacing vehicles at roughly five years or 150,000 kilometres in an effort to reduce maintenance costs, improve reliability and preserve resale value.
A 10-year fleet management plan will be brought forth at the June public works meeting.
