The Smiths Falls Sports and Recreation Hall of Fame is getting ready to celebrate another group of athletes, teams, builders and community spaces that have helped shape the town’s proud sports history.
The 2026 Smiths Falls Sports and Recreation Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Sunday, June 28, at the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre Hall. The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m.
This year’s individual honourees include Amey Doyle, Dr. Kimberly McKenney Hadian, Alyscha Morrison, also known as Alyscha Taylor, and George Vincent “Skinner” Poulin.
The Hall of Fame will also recognize two teams with deep local connections. The Smiths Falls Teddy Bears and the 1959-60 Rideaus will be honoured for their place in the community’s sports story.
Two more names will be added to the Wall of Fame. Blaine Byron and Dennis Plante will be recognized as part of this year’s celebration.
The ceremony will also highlight two important recreation facilities in Smiths Falls. The Canadian Pacific Recreation Facility and Ryan’s Park will be honoured for their role in supporting local sport, recreation and community life.
The Smiths Falls Sports and Recreation Hall of Fame celebrates people and places that have made a lasting impact on the town. The annual induction ceremony gives the community a chance to look back at major achievements while recognizing the volunteers, athletes, teams and facilities that helped build local pride.
Former myFM host Dave White will host the event as he has for many years.
The event is being presented by the Smiths Falls Sports and Recreation Hall of Fame Committee on behalf of the Town of Smiths Falls.
