A Perth resident is facing several charges after police responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 7.
Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police say officers received a call from a motorist on Sunday, June 21, shortly after 12:30 a.m.
Police say the caller reported a vehicle in the ditch in Tay Valley Township.
Officers attended the scene and found the vehicle.
OPP say after speaking with the driver, officers arrested her and took her to the OPP detachment in Perth for testing.
As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Emily Poole of Perth has been charged with dangerous operation, failure or refusal to comply with demand, driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available, having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available, and failing to surrender an insurance card.
Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, August 3.
The charges have not been proven in court.
OPP say the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under an Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension.
The vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
Police continue to remind drivers that road safety concerns can involve more than one offence, especially when alcohol, cannabis or testing demands are part of an investigation.
OPP say anyone who sees a suspected impaired or dangerous driver should call 911 when it is safe to do so.
The investigation began after another motorist reported the vehicle in the ditch.
