Construction of the new Linden Housing Co-operative in Perth continues to move ahead on schedule, with the first residents expected to move in by January 2027.
The development at 79 Wilson Street West has reached several key construction milestones and remains on track to be completed under budget.
Work is progressing steadily, with the building expected to have its roof installed and be weather-tight by mid-August. That will allow interior construction to continue through the fall.
“The vision of creating an affordable, community-focused housing co-operative is becoming a reality,” said Linden Housing Co-operative chair Steven Welchner.
Welchner says visible progress is being made every week and organizers are excited to welcome the first members early next year.
The project will include 39 affordable housing units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments.
Ten units will be rent-geared-to-income and allocated through County of Lanark’s centralized waiting list.
The development will also feature eight wheelchair-accessible units, along with indoor and outdoor common spaces designed to encourage community connections among residents.
Applications for membership remain open until July 31.
Applicants selected to move forward will be invited to an information session in August before the membership selection process continues.
More details, eligibility requirements and application information are available through Linden Housing Co-operative.
