Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow says years of investment in public spaces, streetscapes and community assets are helping reshape the town’s image.
Pankow says the changes are easy to see across Smiths Falls, from the completed Beckwith Street project to the improved downtown bridge features, the town square and the new pedestrian bridge at Confederation Park.
The downtown core has become a stronger gathering place, with Bike Night, small events and everyday visitors helping bring more life to the area.
Pankow says the town square is now being used regularly and gives people a place to relax or take part in community activities. He says the work has helped create a welcoming setting for residents, businesses and visitors.
Smiths Falls Town Hall has also undergone extensive renovations, adding accessibility improvements and updating the building in general. The work is part of a wider effort to modernize public spaces while keeping important community landmarks in use.
Pankow says the new pedestrian bridge was meant to be more than a basic crossing.
He says the final result is something the community can be proud of.
More town improvement work is expected as Smiths Falls continues building on the progress made over the last several years.
Shawn Pankow has not announced if he will seek reelection in the Fall elections. news1 Moved File from Markets\ON East\Holding to Markets\ON East\Daily Stories @ 06/24/26 04:06 PM
