Scott Reid is offering help to install an outdoor save station in Smiths Falls.
The Lanark-Frontenac MP told council save stations are more expensive than the installation of a defibrillator, but spit balled a similar cost-sharing agreement.
A save station is a publicly accessible emergency cabinet that stores life-saving equipment such as an AED, naloxone, or bleeding-control supplies, often available 24/7.
Reid explained where the idea came from.
The youths couldn’t access the defibrillator in the school as it was locked, even though they could see it inside the building. Reid calls outdoor save stations the “lowest hanging fruit,” in an effort to save more lives.
Council expressed interest in exploring a partnership.
