Ground has been broken on the new multi-use, permanent sports pad at Carleton Junction in Carleton Place.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place last week.
The project is the result of a cooperative effort by the OPP, Carleton Place Fire Department, town hall, local sponsors Molloy Contracting and many others.
The OPP has maintained an outdoor, temporary rink near their station in Carleton Place. This will replace it with a year-round facility.
It includes a concrete slab, boards, and lighting.
$225,000 has been raised in the community for the project. Organizers would like to get that to the 300,000 mark.
