All too often the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario has helped kids in our listening area when they need it the most.
Now CHEO (as it’s known) is asking that we return the favour.
The hospital says the respiratory virus season is showing no signs of letting up, so they’re pleading with parents to make sure their kids have up to date flu shots.
CHEO has already taken some extreme measures to try to keep up with the demand that may surge until mid-January, at least.
They have opened a second Intensive Care Unit, sent non-urgent patients to adult hospitals, cancelled surgeries and have even brought in nursing help from the Red Cross just to help.
The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit echoes the plea to get kids their shots, especially after reporting the death of child with the flu earlier this season.
