The Federal and Provincial Governments announced that, effective December 31st, 2022, fees for families with children under the age of 6 at licensed child care operators in Ontario that have enrolled in the so-called $10-per-day daycare program will be reduced by an average of 50% across the province, compared to 2020 levels.
The rate drop is supported by the federal government’s Canada-wide early learning and child care agreement with the province.
Fees for licensed child care operators enrolled in the Canada-wide system, which includes many in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville, will be brought down to an average of $23 per day.
In some cases that’s a savings of $6,000 per year.
This is the second rate drop since October of this year. Some parents and guardians have already received two rebates from their providers.
The goal is to get the rates to $10 per day by March 2026.
