Lanark County’s Fire Departments want you to have a safe holiday season and ask that you’re mindful of fire and CO safety as you celebrate.
Matt Anderson, Assistant Fire Chief with the Carleton Place Fire Department says one of the easiest ways to make sure that you, your family, and any guests stay safe is to make sure your smoke detectors are working.
They’re also asking that we consider Carbon Monoxide safety too.
Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Baird from the Perth Fire Department says making sure that you’re CO detector is up to date is vital.
Firefighters also say that you should be extremely careful while using candles. Candle-based fires peak during the holidays.
As for other things to watch for, make sure any extension cords you’re using for lights are in good shape, and that you use outdoor cords for outdoor lights.
