
In just a matter of days, you’ll be able to walk in to pharmacies across Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville, and walk out with prescription medications for 13 more ailments.
The province announced Wednesday morning, that pharmacists will soon be able to prescribe medications for some common ailments without the approval of a physician.
The ailments are: hay fever, oral thrush, dermatitis, pink eye, menstrual cramps, acid reflux, hemorrhoids, cold sores, impetigo, insect bites and hives, tick bites, sprains and strains, and UTIs.
It comes into effect on Jan. 1st and means pharmacists will be able to fill prescriptions immediately without a doctor’s appointment for the ailments.
In making the announcement, Minister of Health Sylvia Jones said it will make it easier for the people of Ontario to get the care they need.
