The Perth Polar Bear Plunge made its return to the Tay River in a big way yesterday morning, with more than 110 brave souls taking the leap to raise money for Cornerstone Landing.
It was about plus 2 degrees Celsius at jump time. The water was hovering around one degree.
We caught up with Cornerstone’s Terrilee Kelford afterwards. Terrilee took the first jump (above) and told us here group is very happy with the amount of money raised.
Kelford told us they will put the cash to great use.
Kelford was grateful for all the volunteers, and a local company that came through with a dock as the weather turned.

The event was captured through the lens of local photographer Kathy Botham, who’s pictures are used here with permission.
David Lavery, founder and president of the plunge says he too was thrilled with the results.
Both he and Kelford extended a warm thanks to all who helped make the day happen. Lavery says an announcement on who will benefit from next year’s plunge will be announced in the near future.
Lake 88 is proud to help with the Plunge every year. Yours truly took part in my fifth jump (above as Lavery looks on), while Brian Perkin served as MC once again (below).
