You may have heard that Perth Council is considering some hefty tax increases in this year’s budget.
But council isn’t ready to pull the trigger just yet.
A preliminary vote was planned for this week’s meeting, on a budget that would have seen a 5% increase in property taxes and an 11% jump the water/sewer bill, bringing in $8.9M for the town.
But several councillors around the horseshoe weren’t ready to vote without some clarification on staffing costs and other items.
So, they moved to defer its decision to a special meeting to be held next week.
They still plan hold a final vote on the 2023 Budget on January 31st.
