The Carleton Place Fire Department says residents should be alarmed at the number of fire-related deaths in the province last year.
The department says in a statement, “2022 was one of the deadliest years our Province has seen in over two decades. Ontario recorded 133 fire related deaths. Most of these could have been prevented if homeowners had checked and tested their smoke alarms.”
They are urging us all to take some time out of our days and press the test button on the alarms. “It only takes seconds to start protecting what matters most!”
