The Special Investigations Unit has concluded an investigation into an incident involving a pair of Kingston Police officers and decided there’s no basis to proceed with criminal charges.
The report indicates on September 13th, 2022, a 57-year-old man suffered a rib fracture in the course of his arrest while intoxicated and attempting to force himself into a residential building.
SIU director Joseph Martino said while there’s some evidence the complainant was punched three times by one of the officers, there’s no evidence which indicated which one of the two it was.
Both officers declined to be interviewed by the SIU or provide their notes of the incident, which is their legal right.
