Lanark County council heard from its Paramedic Service on their 2023 budget requests.
If approved as-is, the operations budget would jump just under $1 million from a year ago, from $10.32 million to $11.3 million.
Over half of that would come from the pre-approved funding for the enhancement switch in March, which involved scheduling adjustments allowing an existing ambulance to cover a new 12 hour shift seven days a week.
The service, alongside all fields of healthcare, is facing an abundance of challenges in the year ahead, Wilson Trider said.
CEO Mary Wilson Trider says a smaller fiscal piece of the 2023 puzzle could serve the biggest impact, in the Frontline Resilience Partnership.
That partnership would costs $56,000 in 2023.
Trider says calls to service have increased 114% since 2010 and paramedics are busier than ever and need resources like this to help them manage.
