We’re learning more about the latest sexual assault case involving a former teacher at St. John Catholic High School.
Parents were only told about the case about six months after the Ontario College of teachers deemed it credible. The institution ruled last summer that Edward Michael Oliver was guilty of professional misconduct after looking into allegations that he sexually abused a 17-year-old female student while he was teaching at the Perth high school.
The college then revoked Oliver’s teaching certificate.
A letter was sent home to parents from the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario dated February 1st. The ruling came down July 20th of last year.
The Catholic District School Board has declined an invitation to speak to the people of Perth on Lake 88, saying they had no further comment other than what was in the letter.
