An update was provided Tuesday regarding the Indigenous Healing Circle, and initiative through the Racism and Discrimination Task Force during the previous term of Smiths Falls council.
Mayor Shawn Pankow says their consultation with local Indigenous leaders went well.
The design’s been given the go ahead and there’s an ideal finishing date in mind, but there’s still work to do.
The hope is to have the healing circle placed at the tip of Duck Island where the sacred fire is held during Pow Wows.
