Today is the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and our Local Immigration Partnership is teaming up with counterparts from across eastern Ontario to mark the day with a special panel discussion.
Jodi Bucholtz, Manager of the Local Immigration Partnership of Lanark and Renfrew says they have experienced moderators who will be speaking about allyship.
Bucholtz says teaming up with other organizations for the discussion made sense.
The day has been observed annually since 1979, on the anniversary of police in Sharpeville, South Africa, killing 69 people at a peaceful demonstration against apartheid “pass laws” in 1960.
After the panel, which can be watched on YouTube, there will be a question and answer period.
