Niagara Region Public Health announced Tuesday that six people received an injection of a saline solution used to dilute the Pfizer COVOD-19 vaccine without the vaccine component.
The Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is reminding residents that COVID-19 is still in our communities.
Dr. Linna Li, our medical officer of health tells us that numbers on their weekly report remain low.
There has also been a death in the last week tied to the virus bring the local toll to 159.
Dr. Li says she’s often asked if there will be another wave. She says that depends on new variants and their transmission rates.
Another factor is the number of people who are vaccinated. She points to the spring vaccination campaign, which will help at risk individuals cut their risk of getting the virus.
In the meantime, she says the most vulnerable to COVID-19 should remain vigilant with their precautions.
