Wanda Dowdall was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer shortly after beaten breast cancer. Submitted photo.
A local mother of three with terminal brain cancer wants to spread some good with her time left.
Wanda Dowdall had recently beaten breast cancer, and was given the all clear from her doctors following a mastectomy.
Then a few months ago, a tremor in her hand started, which sparked concern and additional tests.
It was those tests that revealed the cancer had returned. This time in the shape of three brain tumors, with the doctors telling her that her time was short.
Determined to leave a lasting mark, and through help from friends Glenn and Kelly Desjardine, and Lisa King, Wanda’s Wish was born.
Glenn told Lake 88 Dowdall had learned of another family going through tough times and wanted to help with a fundraiser.
He says Dowdall, her partner Bob and their children are the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Her hope is to make the fundraiser an annual event helping families who need a hand in Lanark County.
The night features a chili dinner, snacks, live bands and dancing, a 50/50, a silent auction, door prizes and much more takes place Saturday (April 22) in the upstairs hall of the Carleton Place Arena from 4-10 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door.
