You may have seen some police officers out and about in Smiths Falls looking into cars as they pass by.
That’s because they are conducting a seatbelt safety blitz this month as part of the Strategic Traffic Enforcement Program (or STEP), their ongoing commitment to improve road safety.
They pick a different focus each month based on factors like collisions, officer observations and citizen concerns.
The ultimate goal is to make roads safer. The seatbelt compliance effort runs through the end of the month.
