Beware of the “grandparent scam” that is once again circulating, as some of our listeners have reported.
This scam typically targets elderly individuals and involves a caller posing as a grandchild who is in trouble and requires urgent funds for bail or a fine payment.
The caller may even hand the phone to a fake lawyer or police officer to add credibility to the scam.
If you receive such a call, it’s advisable to hang up immediately and contact the loved one to confirm their well-being. In case you do fall victim to the scam, report the incident to the Police immediately.
