Tracking down fraudsters is no easy task and that’s why the attention remains prevention through education.
Smiths Falls Police Chief Mark McGillivray says fraudsters can reach you from anywhere in the world, which is why apprehension and restitution is challenging.
But when it’s local, they have some success.
McGillivray says alongside most Canadian police forces, they focus on the education aspect of ongoing frauds, to hopefully steer you clear from them before it’s too late.
