The Smiths Falls Bears are catching their bearings after their 6-2 Game 7 loss to the Ottawa Junior Senators in the Bogart Cup.
Head coach and general manager Pat Malloy told Lake 88 in the end he felt his team didn’t show what they’re capable of.
Sean James scored in the opening minute to give the Bears and early lead, before Emile Villiard and Chase Lammi scored two and a half minutes apart to stake Ottawa out to a 2-1 lead.
Riley Thompson scored midway through the first frame, and that was all the offense the Bears could muster the rest of the way.
Ottawa scored twice in the second and the third, including an empty netter, to win their fourth consecutive Bogart Cup 6-2.

Malloy says the graduating class and the returning players can use the loss as motivation for whatever lies ahead.
The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 series lead before dropping the next three games. They forced a seventh game with an overtime winner off the stick of Owen Watson.
A win would’ve snapped a championship drought which dates back to 1975.
