The Table Community Food Centre surpassed their fundraising goal as the local community raised $17,000 for the residents displaced by the 75 Harvey Street fire.
The Good Friday blaze forced 29 people to find other accommodations, and both the Table and Lanark County quickly stepped in to help find short-term relief such as grocery cards and motel stays.
They’re still seeking help from the public in finding long-term accommodations for most residents. While some have been able to move into friends or families for the time being, other’s don’t have that option. The length of time before folks will be able to return home varies from 3 weeks to a year.
They’re asking the community to help house these individuals if you have a spare room, suite or cottage. Learn more at thetablecfc.org.
