The Tay River Health Centre and Sharbot Lake Family Health Team are collaborating to come together as one to provide greater healthcare services in Perth and the surrounding area.
Upon approval by the Ministry of Health, the partnership would see the Sharbot Lake Family Health Team services expand to the Tay River Health Centre.
Which is what medical director at TRHC Dr. Taylor Ferrier says is the ideal world.
There’s over 5,000 people on the waitlist to join TRHC with more joining daily, and a merger means additional nurse practitioners and physicians to accept new patients.
Executive Director at SLFHT Deborah Krause says this move wouldn’t impact existing patients.
The two sides are hopeful to submit an application for provincial funding and receive approval in time to make the merger happen in the first half of next year.
