The eagerly anticipated results of the Rideau Lakes Township By-Election in Ward 1 – Bastard and South Burgess have been announced. Paula Banks emerged as the winner, securing victory by a margin of nearly 60 votes over her opponent, Laura Redman.
Notably, this marks Banks’ third attempt at securing a council seat, making her win even more significant.
Expressing gratitude towards her supporters, Banks extended her appreciation to those who voted for her. She expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to represent the ward she deeply cares for and loves.
The vacant seat at the council table arose following the unfortunate passing of Councillor Cathy Livingston in December of the previous year. The by-election served as an important democratic process to fill the void and ensure continued representation for the community.
