It’s opening day for the Rideau Canal, a move that signals the beginning of the summer for many.
Mark Brus, Operations Manager with Parks Canada, says they worried they weren’t going to be able to get it ready in time.
We’re into what’s known as the shoulder season. From today (May 19) until June 18 it’s open from 9am until 7 pm on the weekends, and holidays.
Brus says the weather in recent weeks and months had them questioning whether they’d be ready.
During the week lock stations will be open from 10am until 4pm.
You can pay for passes for the day, a single lock, or the season at any of the lockstations or at parkscanada.ca.
